4th of July

Hampton, Ben and I spent the evening of the 3rd at the Addison Airport with some of Ben's colleagues. We ate hamburgers, hot dogs and homemade ice cream while we watched vintage airplanes fly and do tricks. Hampton is crazy about airplanes and was fascinated to see them flying so close. He even got to touch a real plane :). We stayed way past Hampton's bedtime to watch the fireworks. We were a little concerned about how he would handle the loud noise, but he was too mesmerized by their beauty to even notice the sound. He was such a good sport and the hit of the party.

Margret and Luke feeding Hampton choclate ice cream.

WOW! A real airplane!!!

Watching the planes with Daddy

The plane in the background would fly straight up as far as it could fight gravity and then free fall. It was a little scary how close it would come to the ground on its way down.

Watching the fireworks
You can tell he was a tiny bit concerned by the look on his face and his grip on my shirt.

We got up on the morning of the 4th for our neighborhood 4th of July Parade. It was a warm morning and the mosquitos were in full force. The parade route is pretty short and the turn out was small, but we enjoyed it. Hampton was the youngest participant and of course loved watching all the big kids. At the end of the parade, out HOA had bagels and juice for everyone and awards for the best decorations. Hampton got a "Special Award" aka participation award. Next year we may invest some time in decorations.

Notice Ben fighting the mosquitos. They are crazy about him.
After the parade, we went to lunch with the Ruiz family and then took the boys to the Splashground. It was the coolest thing. You can see from the pictures that it is like a water playground. Hampton LOVED it. He is such a water boy. Caleb was not as crazy about it.
Fascinated by the big kids.

It's hard to see his face, but he was squealing with excitement.

It is so much fun to see Hampton with Uncle Drew. He thinks UD is wonderful.

100Days

You absolutely MUST visit www.thephillipsphamily.blogspot.com! (sorry, you'll have to copy and paste) I know some of you have followed the lives of Jaymie, Kory, Kanyon and Jayde, while others of you may only remember me asking for you to pray for the twins who were born at only 25 weeks. Kanyon is 100 days old today and is feeling a new sense of Independence. You must see their testimony of the Lord's overwhelming faithfulness. Hope you all had a great 4th...pictures of ours to come.

Walking

It's official!!! Hampton took his first steps today. Late this afternoon, Ben took a quick break from work to play for a few minutes. We decided to try to get Hampton to walk back and forth to us. We have tried this before, but he was not interested...we even tried this morning. After his nap and this evening, he was loving it. I was so excited...it's been a long time since my cheeks hurt from smiling and laughing, but the did today...twice. I'm so proud of him. Those of you who are moms know what I mean when I say that there aren't words to express the joy of your child's achievements. I cannot express much fun it is to see him proud of himself. Hampton is my "joy and crown."

Happy Birthday!!!

Hampton was itchin' to celebrate his first birthday...bug style!!!
here are pictures...details to follow
We had such a great party at our neighborhood pool! Lots of our friends came to celebrate with us and Ashlee brought the kids (Emerson, Sadie and Campbell). My parents brought Hampton's Gigi from OKC. We had balloons, pizza, cake, swimming and presents.

Kroger was supposed to make Hampton his own little round cake, but they dropped the ball. Ben went to pick up the cakes. I'm glad he handled it. They ended up giving us one of the cakes in the case that happened to be a HEART! Needless to say, we were a bit upset, but ended up getting the cake for half price.
Campbell just couldn't wait for his own piece and sneaked a taste of Hampton's.
YUMMY!!!
"Hmmm, my hands are dirty."
"I'll use this napkin to clean up."
So big!!!
The cake was tasty, but the icing left it's mark...on everything!

What a precious little bug!!!

Hampton,

Your daddy and I love you so much and are amazed by you daily. You are such a joy and blessing to us. We are in awe of how much and how fast you learn. You are quick to smile and love waving at strangers who aren't looking at you. You always look at me as if to say, "Don't they know I'm saying hi?" You love to ride in the basket at target. You hold on to the front and bounce up and down in excitement. When we go "fast," you look back at me with the biggest smile as if there is nothing better in life. You can say "dada, mamamamama (milk, not Mommy), dog, duck, and bye bye." You make the same sound for Sydney, but it would be a stretch to say that you could actually say Sydney. You aren't walking yet, but we aren't pushing the issue. You are absolutely crazy about your Daddy and light up when he is around. I know you love me too! Happy Birthday Sweet Boy!!!

We love you,

Mommy and Daddy
